We have an extreme interest and focus with placing qualified dogs with people with disabilities and failities in need of therapy dogs. Please privately contact us for more information or to get on the list for a service/therapy dog. We perform a screening test for all puppies to determine if they would be service dog candidates. We also offer a training program to customers, but availability for that program is very limited because we are not able to take a large amount at one time.

The number of puppies attending Prep School at the same time is limited in order to maximize each individual puppy’s time with the trainer. Because of this, early enrollment is recommended for all programs.
OVERVIEW:
ONE WEEK STAY
Goal: Our Crate Training Program was developed for clients that would like for us to keep their puppy for one extra week, vaccinate him, crate train & teach them his/her name. There will be no other training included in this program.
The goal is to have the puppy crate trained and able to spend time in the crate without all the fuss.
This makes for a happier transition to your home and the family can avoid the first few loud and messy days of puppy training.
Focus this week is on the transition from life with mom and litter mates in the Puppy Room to life in the home with people versus dogs. We work diligently on getting the puppy on a schedule for eating, drinking, sleeping, playing, training, and pottying (we start with one that works for him). We do crate training for this week. We stay ahead of the puppy’s need for potty breaks, to prevent accidents in the crate or around the house while the puppy adjusts to his new schedule. By the end of this week, most puppies are on a schedule where they eat 2-3 times daily, they are holding potty in their crate for 4-6 hours at night and 2-4 hours during the day, and barking in the crate is minimal.
Medical Protocol: Our puppies are all weaned and ready to go home or to enter our exclusive Doodle Prep School at eight or nine weeks of age. They are all up to date with the age appropriate vaccinations for an eight-week old puppy. Our vaccination protocol is that all puppies are vaccinated at 6 and 8 weeks and again at 12wks, 16wks, and 6 motnhs. When your eight-week-old puppy comes home he/she will need his 12-week vaccination next. He/She will also be ready to begin their crate training.

2 WEEK STAY
The goal of the 2-week program is to transition your puppy to a new location and life away from their littermates, to become familiar with a family atmosphere, and to be imprinted and started on all aspects of training.
This program is perfect for clients who would like an objective evaluation of their puppy. It’s ideal for those who want a leg up on training but would like to do most of the training themselves.
This program is best suited for those who do not want or cannot handle, those first very messy and noisy days of crate training.
- The initial adjustment away from the litter, which is more dog oriented, to a family home setting which is more people oriented. Most puppies come home ready to instantly bond.
- Your puppy will be on a schedule of eating, drinking, and going potty to make house training much easier. You will receive a copy of this schedule.
- Your Puppy will be crate trained. Meaning in most cases, your puppy can hold potty and remain quiet overnight and for a few hours during the day.
Potty Training Started: Puppies enrolled in the two-week program have just been introduced to the potty training process and are beginning to understand manners and what is expected of them. They will require a great deal of attention to continue the potty training in your home, as well as reinforcement of all the rules we have been working on with them. Your puppy will be introduced to the touch command and ringing the bell to go potty (this aspect of the training is not complete but is made much easier due to the familiarity with the basic training concepts).
- Your puppy will be vetted and receive age appropriate vaccinations & deworm as they apply to your puppy’s health schedule
- Your puppy will be introduced to the four feedback words of “good”, “nope”, “okay” and “leave it” to aid in communication.
- Problems such as jumping up, mouthing (puppy nipping), chewing, etc. will be worked on during this second week.
- Your puppy will be familiar with taking and following treats and wearing a collar and leash. Many new puppy owners do realize how important this is in the training process, and that this does not come naturally to a puppy. It must be taught before the puppy can progress in his/her training.
- Your puppy will be introduced to the training obedience commands of knowing his name, “sit”, “leave it”, “stay” & “come”.
- They are introduced to walking on a lead.
- Your puppy will be introduced to basic grooming and maintenance such as brushing, ear cleaning, nail trimming, and teeth brushing.
- Your puppy will receive socialization throughout the day with children and other household pets.

4 WEEK STAY
During the four weeks, Stay & Train Program the puppy will receive all of the benefits of the two-week program. We teach the basics the first 2 weeks then we do a lot of reinforcing for the next 2 weeks. Consistency is the KEY to this program. This program is designed for the novice puppy owner. It’s ideal for those that want a more comprehensive program that will render a better-trained family member. Due to the extended length of the program, we will be able to work with the puppy more in-depth.
We will have more time to get to know your puppy and fine tune the skills that were introduced in the first two weeks.
Goals are the same as the two week training, but they are reinforced for a longer period with the 4 week stay.
